Stitch Therapy

Discovering me … one stitch at a time

The last week of school is finally here. The boys (and I) are excited for Summer to start. I always seem to think that things will slow down over the Summer, but really they go just as fast.

On Saturday, I got it into my head that we needed a new couch for the living room. I was hemming and hawing about it, but then we came up with the brilliant idea to move the furniture from the family room to the living room and get new family room furniture instead. I don’t know what I was thinking when we got light colored furniture for the family room last year. Boys + expensive light colored couch = very bad idea. So, I picked out a new couch and it wasn’t custom order and it was in stock and, lo and behold, it was delivered on Monday and we are already busy breaking it in. How easy was that?

You can’t really see the couch in this picture, but Littlest and I are cuddling on it here. It’s huge! And comfy!

We still need to find a chair though. Decisions.

So since I was on a redecorating rampage, I also got it into my head that I wanted to paint the desk black. It was previously a kooky chinoiserie number. Here it is in progress.

I love it!

And in other news, Tom spotted the first tomato this morning.

And, here I am stitching on the train again.

Can I tell you how ANNOYED I am? I went to re-buy the threads that had blown away in the wind and the store was OUT of Hickory Sticks by Crescent Colours. UGH! Now I have to order online and pay to ship just one skein of floss. I suppose I could substitute the color, but the perfectionist in me is having a hard time coming to terms with this. I know. Someone (me) needs to take a chill pill.

School’s out!

  1. oooh, can i see photos of your couch? you know we’re still looking, 4 years and counting. i painted most of our ikea bookshelf white, but flaked out with the last 4 shelves. painting wood is not that easy. your desk looks very elegant. can you order more than one skein of floss? maybe it’s an opportunity to put a larger order in?

  2. I need to take some photos of it. I tried to not over think this one and just picked something that is practical and durable. The desk looks nice from far away, but you can definitely tell that I got lazy with my sanding if you inspect it up close.

  3. You are such a “do-er”! I wish I could just jump into projects. I think I have a fear or ruining something. Love the new desk! Looks fabulous. And I am with you about the floss thing. Once I have something in my head, it’s hard to change it. Your stitched piece is looking fabulous.

  4. Thanks Ginny!

I love to hear from you!
