Stitch Therapy

Discovering me … one stitch at a time

Goodbye Summer.

We had a full and busy weekend. On Saturday, we hosted a big family party for Littlest’s birthday. It required a lot of cooking and cleaning and freaking out, which are my favorite things to do (cooking and cleaning, not freaking out).

On Sunday, we went fishing. I filmed the boys for 4 minutes reeling in a HUGE FISH, before we realized that it was a snag. It was exciting though while it lasted.

I am always surprised that the boys actually enjoy fishing, because they are usually into higher energy (i.e. noisier) activities. I’m not complaining! It’s great to see them liking something that does not require batteries.

Our guests left this morning and school begins next Tuesday! Summer is almost officially over!

The weeks are always busy once school starts, but I am looking forward to getting back into our regular routines. It feels good to get things accomplished.

Speaking of accomplishments, Tom has been working really hard at work AND at house renovations. I am so proud of and thankful for him! Sometimes I sneak around and take pictures of him, which he hates, but I think are cute. Here he is doing construction drawings. He is old school about certain things which cracks me up … no CAD for this guy!

Hope that you all are enjoying the week. Happy Tuesday!

  1. The last days of summer…I am really sad to see this summer go. As much as I love the season of Autumn, I really enjoyed this summer. The weather was great this year. My youngest graduated last year, so I don’t have any kids going to school next week. It is a bit strange still; no more hustle of getting things ready for back to school. I am not sure exactly how I feel about it. I just have to wait and see. I hope it doesn’t get too crazy for you. Enjoy the last lazy days of summer.

  2. Monica Cozzolino

Hi, my name is Monica and I live in Ontario, Canada. I have two boys as well (albeit, mine are 21 and almost 25) and a great husband. I share your love of Cross Stitch and I wanted you to know how much I enjoy reading your blogs. You sound as though you are a down to earth person, handling whatever comes your way. I usually smile while reading your blogs due to their instant familiarity. Keep your head up high.
it has been enjoyable to share with you a little snippet of your daily activities.

    Kindest regards,

  3. Hi Monica. Thanks so much for the lovely comment. It made my day! One of the best parts about blogging has been hearing from people with whom I have so much in common. It makes the world feel like a much smaller place. 🙂

  4. Hi Ginny! I imagine that the end of summer will feel so different when there are no more back to school preparations. It’s funny how you think you’ve mastered a certain stage of motherhood, and then they are already onto the next!

  5. Yes, totally agree.

  6. Hi Monica – I’m from Ontario, Canada as well! I agree – I’ve just found Fawn’s blog and I completely agree, It’s a lovely place to visit 🙂

  7. Fishing! Just like us!! Your boys are so sweet, and I totally get the thing about being busy with something other than batteries…… I’m glad to hear your guests are now gone – once school starts we will all breathe a huge introverted sigh of relief 😉 Isn’t it great having a handy husband? I love that yours is old school – looks like he’s having a grand time!!

  8. Awww. 🙂 You Ontarians (is that a word?) are so nice!

I love to hear from you!
